The Diploma For Hair Professional (Hairdressing) Level 2

Ladies Hairdressing Apprenticeship

This Qualification can be taken as a part of a Ladies Hairdressing Apprenticeship, providing the apprentice is working a minimum of 30 hours each week in a Hairdressing salon.

Our Academy in London offers a flexible curriculum for government-funded students, including hands-on creative workshops and demonstrations in our modern, air-conditioned environment. They will spend either one full week at the Academy for each month of their course or 1 day each week. Whether an apprentice is new to the hairdressing world or a qualified hairdresser or barber working towards Level 3 Advanced & Creative Hair Professional (formerly NVQ Level 3), we offer all levels of training. Functional Skills are taught to those whose GCSE grades fall below 4’s in English & Maths.

We have a strong reputation for work-based-learning and have been delivering Government-funded apprenticeship training for more than 30 years.

Hairdressing Apprentices will start cutting hair on their second day of training. During the 3-week (15 day) Induction period, Apprentices learn the 9 Alan d Foundation Haircuts together with a variety of finishing techniques before moving on to a further 4 (20 days) weeks of cutting, both on dummy heads and live models. Client care, shampooing and salon etiquette all form part of this module.

Classes then run as follows: 4 weeks (20 days) of roller-setting together with long-hair & perming, 5 weeks (25 days) of colouring and 5 weeks (25 days) of preparing students for their End-Point Assessment (EPA).

During their time at the Academy, Apprentices work on live models, dummy heads and take online tests towards the completion of their NVQ. In many cases, Apprentices complete their course in less than the prescribed 18-21 months.

Apprentices are assessed to confirm their progress at each stage of the course. It is our policy to fast-track those that perform particularly well and whom we consider to be ready for their End-Point-Assessment (EPA).
