NVQ Level 2 Diploma
Ladies Hairdressing Apprenticeship
The NVQ Level 2 Qualification can be taken as a part of a Ladies Hairdressing Apprenticeship, providing the apprentice is working a minimum of 30 hours each week in a Hairdressing salon.
Our Hairdressing Academies in London and Ipswich offer a flexible curriculum for government-funded students, including hands-on creative workshops and demonstrations in our modern, air-conditioned environment. They will spend either one full week at the Academy for each month of their course or 1 day each week. Whether an apprentice is new to the hairdressing world or a qualified hairdresser or barber working towards NVQ Level 3, Alan d Hairdressing Education offers all levels of training.
We have a strong reputation for work-based-learning and have been delivering Government-funded apprenticeship training for more than 25 years. Every week a Level 2 hairdressing apprentice attends the Academy, their progress is reviewed by one of our team who are happy to help with any problems that may affect learning.
Our hairdressing Apprentices start cutting hair on their second day of training. During the 3-week (15 day) Induction, apprentices learn the 9 Alan d Foundation Haircuts together with a variety of finishing techniques. This is before moving on to a further 4 (20 days) weeks of cutting, both on dummy heads and live models. Client care, shampooing and salon etiquette all form part of this module.
Following this, our classes then run as follows: 4 weeks (20 days) of setting together with long-hair & perming, 5 weeks (25 days) of colouring and 5 weeks (25 days) of preparing students for the new End-Point Assessment (EPA).
During their time at the Academy, apprentices work on live models, dummy heads and take online tests towards the completion of their NVQ. In many cases, apprentices complete their course in less than the prescribed 18 months.
Apprentices are assessed to confirm their progress at each stage of the course. It is our policy to fast-track those that perform particularly well and whom we consider to be ready for their End-Point-Assessment (EPA).
The Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals includes VTCT online testing to complete the qualification. Alan d & VTCT certification is awarded on completion of the course. Alan d & Central have a well-rehearsed Safeguarding Policy and is an Equal Opportunities organisation.

Terms & Conditions for Enrolment for Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing or Barbering)
Work-Based-Learning training is fully funded for those under 19 by the ESFA.
The employer will receive a grant of £1000 paid in equal amounts after months 5 & 13.
The employer will be liable for the End-Point-Assessment (EPA) cost, presumed to be approximately £250.
Those 19 and over at the start of their training are partly-funded, so a contribution of £25 per month is paid by the employer up to a maximum of £350, payable by S/O.
The only other cost is the VTCT registration fee, currently £150, and the EPA as above.
Salon-owners – are you happy with the training your apprentice hairdresser is getting?
We appreciate that finding the perfect apprentice hairdresser is difficult enough and keeping them focused can be even harder.
Are you getting the training support that both you and your apprentice deserve?
Don’t forget, day release options are now available at all our locations. Alan d and VTCT certification is awarded on completion of the course.
