Together We Are Stronger

A NEW alliance at the start of 2018 between Central Training Group and Alan d Hairdressing Education means even better hairdressing and barbering training opportunities for apprentices in London and the M25 area, the South East and East Anglia.

Both training organisations enjoy an outstanding reputation within the industry and have a strong history in delivering high quality training to some of the biggest names in the business.

Martin Kolton founded Central Hairdressing Academy in 1983 and later in 1985 opened the London based division of the business with the late hairdressing legend, Joshua Galvin.

Alan Hemmings founded Alan d Hairdressing in 1991 following a 30 year career with the renowned Robert Fielding of Regent Street group, with Edward joining the business in 1992 having himself trained at the Alan d Academy.

With a long established training centre in Central London, Alan d opened a new academy in Ipswich in 2012, which quickly attracted large numbers of apprentices keen to avail themselves of high quality training and expert hairdressing and barbering educators.

Delivering the best training possible is top of the agenda for both companies and the new partnership will allow the trainers at both Central and Alan d to maintain their commitment to nurturing and developing young talent.

Alan Hemmings Managing Director of Alan d Hairdressing Education explained: “With the introduction last year of new Apprenticeship standards I felt our educators and administrators might spend too much time away from doing what they do best which is working with learners and their employers.

“Our partnership means Central will run and administer the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) contract leaving the Alan d team free to lead the group creatively and ensure learners receive the best training wherever they may be based.”

For Central, working with Alan, Edward and the Alan d team is an exciting prospect.

Central Chairman, Martin Kolton, added: “The Alan d brand is synonymous with high quality hairdressing and barbering training.

“Edward is also hugely respected within the industry and works with pretty much every hair organisation within the UK.

“His knowledge, contacts and experience, alongside that of his team, will only enhance the training we deliver overall to every employer and learner who chooses to work with us.

“We believe our partnership heralds the beginning of a very exciting time for hairdressing and barbering education in the UK.
